Art STUDIO 42
Meet the Artist; Jennifer Gammill
As a child sitting still was difficult my hands had to be doing something, making skirts and Halloween costumes for the neighborhood while learning to sew at a young age. Soon skills as a seamstress grew but the creativity didn’t stop with fabric it continued into working with multiple mediums. Photography and creating art from the photos, book binding, leather work, paper arts, jewelry, sterling silver and copper and natural stones. My first sculpture was a set of mermaids, in which I surprised myself! Now working mainly with copper, making statues and forming metal into interesting shapes. Inspiration is drawn from the Cherokee Nation, in which I’m am a proud citizen and also from my cousins of the Otoe-Missouri tribe. I enjoy the benefits of family and lots of friends around to encourage and motivate my creativity. Receiving lots of accolades and winning awards from art shows demonstrating my skills of sewing, photography, jewelry and sculpting. After retiring from the City of Dallas and moving to Muskogee, Oklahoma I’m now a member of the Muskogee Art Guild, Muskogee’s Red Wagon Society and live in Founders’ Place Historic District where history and art merge.
